Miss Paige has a new friend to keep her company.

It’s that time again! Our Spring Open House is scheduled for May 30th and we’d love to see you there!

This year, in order to facilitate as many pony rides as possible, we ask guests to please bring their own helmets to save time (if you have one).

Spring break sees fun guests come to visit our barn and learn about horses.

Our visitors also made wonderful drawings of what they liked most about being with horses!

What is your favourite part about being around horses?

Did you know before we moved to our current location on 9080 Avalon Ave in 1971 our Association was located at Sperling and Canada Way, where the @burnabyfiredepartment is currently located.

Thank you Carol McEachen for taking us on another trip down memory lane where we can see some amazing photos from 1967 and 1968 and BHA’s play days. In the background you can even see the highway and overpass we use today at the Kensington & Canada Way entrance/exit. Carol remembers riding down Agusta Street, down Duthie and Broadway to Sperling, down Sperling to the overpass and into BHA’s field.

Did you know BHA is entirely volunteer run? Meaning there are no full-time staff and all of our Members contribute towards making our facility run.

In addition to accredited training, our members volunteer their own time as well to teaching others how to maintain BHA.

We’re gearing up for a weekend of learning as we welcome Liz Eaton to our facility for our first Clinic in several years! Internationally renowned equestrian coach Liz Eaton is one of the most empathetic and horse-first coaches and her lessons can be described as “a counselling session with your horse”. Her flatwork, poles and course jumping are really just about horsemanship rather than a specific discipline. She focuses on meeting you where you and your horse are at, and is incredibly knowledgeable about the biomechanics of your horse and helping your horse find their balance.

As a reminder the indoor arena will be closed Saturday and Sunday from 8am - 5pm for clinic participants

Happy Easter, say hello to our horses on the trails!

Did you know that bikes and walkers/joggers should slow to a stop and let a horse know you would like to pass by and do so when safe?

As park users flock to the trails to enjoy the sunshine in the nature, our horses and humans are always happy to stop and say hello to you when yielding to them on the trails.
