HISTORY

EST 1971.

Burnaby Horsemen’s Association (BHA) was registered as a non-profit association in 1967 and has operated on the east side of Burnaby Lake since 1971.

At the time, Burnaby was home to many personal farms, and the 160 founding members owned and cared for over 120 horses in the municipality! According to archive records, only five horses were kept in the single barn on the Burnaby Horsemen's Association leased land in 1968 - now there are 59 horses in three barns!

The initial concept of BHA was to offer a gathering place for equestrian events, activities and learning. Over the last 50 plus years, we have worked hard to continue offering affordable equestrian activities within the city limits.

Did you or your family grow up at the BHA? We invite the community and past/present members to share their BHA memories and historical photos with us! You can email us or tag us on social media using #horsesinburnaby.
